“And why would they watch my concert? Mainly because this concert is unique… and historic. I can assure you that the audience can witness a concept never been done before in the local concert scene. It will be purely music and voice.” – Dindo Fernandez, Singer/Composer
The Soulful Balladeer and composer Dindo Fernandez is set to take the stage in his upcoming concert dubbed “Dindo Fernandez…Live at Teatrino with Musica Chiesa,” and promises to make it historical in the local concert scene. It will be a night of unforgettable performances. The show will be on October 28, 2023 (8 PM), at Teatrino (Promenade, Greenhills). Michael Bulaong of the chamber orchestra Musica Chiesa, is his musical director, and to be directed by award-winning light and stage director Joey Nombres.
This much-anticipated first solo concert of the balladeer will showcase his exceptional talent, his vocal range, and his ability to connect with his audience through his heartfelt rendition of the songs. Fernandez will be supported by a 12-piece chamber instrumental ensemble (Musica Chiesa), composed of the rhythm section and 7-piece strings (violin, viola, and cello). Musica Chiesa is an artist under Jesuit Communications Foundation Inc.
“The concert’s concept is quite personal,” shares the singer, “but I was inspired by the idea of direk Joey (Nombres), that it is all about ‘music and voice.’ So we will be avoiding using some stuff like the LED and some visual effects because we want to go back to the old days when the audience would just watch the show and appreciate music through pure voice and the orchestra.
“And as a singer,” he adds, “they will see my flexibility, and at the same time, I can show to them that I can sing different types of genres, from love songs to Broadway, from gospel songs to duet songs, and an array of different arrangements. “ His duets will be done with Gel Pasigan, a finalist in the 2019 WCOPA. He will be singing familiar songs from his repertoire, most of these songs he sang on his FB Page and during his regular EF Live Sessions every Saturday (8 pm). And most of these iconic songs are sung by our local and international artists. He will be singing all his original compositions that have been released on Spotify, Apple Music, and other music platforms.
His creative team is inspiring! Fernandez admits that they respect each other’s ideas and contributions to make the show entertaining, fun, and memorable. “Although this is my first-ever solo concert, my musical director allowed me to help with some of the arrangements of the songs. However, at first, he was a bit hesitant about my ideas. But when he was able to listen to my arrangements, he gladly welcomed my input. Some of the arrangements you will be surprised kasi di nyo pa ito naririnig before,” he relates. “
Why would music enthusiasts watch his concert? “I think it’s time for them to have an option, but I’m not saying a better option. I think it is nice for them to see a singer like me who can sing their favorite songs in different arrangements. I’m not saying my version is better but a good option, at para ma iba naman sa pandinig nila,” he answers.
“I like direk Joey because he’s straightforward. He’s more focused on the music. We know our audience is varied, but I’m pretty sure the millennials will like our show, especially our Michael Bubble selection,” he shares.
As a performer, Fernandez’s concert is not just about entertaining his audience. To make the show alive and personal, he intends to ask for the participation of everyone to make it interactive and fun. The intimate setting of Teatrino creates a perfect ambiance for him to establish a closer connection with his supporters, transforming the concert into a memorable experience. Dubbed the country’s “Soulful Balladeer,” he intends to prove to the public that he truly deserves the title, not just in the Philippines, but in the whole of Asia.

“I’m not the usual singer na kakanta lang ako with my mouth, but they will see me singing and doing other things. I don’t know how you can interpret it but I will not just stand there and sing,” he insists. “As I have mentioned earlier, the concert is unique and historic because there are portions in the show never been done before in a local concert…kaya dapat silang manood.”
And what’s the most challenging part of mounting his first solo concert? “Definitely the preparation,” he stresses. “We had a short time to do everything. I felt I was not ready, but the people behind me who supported me insisted that I needed to have a concert this year. After giving myself days of deep consideration, I heeded their advice. However, I try to avoid stressing my voice and refrain from doing other production work. ”
The concert is presented in collaboration with the Jesuit Communications Foundation Inc. (JesCom).
