Queen of Visayan Movies, Gloria Sevilla: A Celebration of Life and Legacy!

     The Cebu City government,  through the office Councilor James Cuenco, and in cooperation with SINEGugma Cebu Film Advocacy, and SM Supermalls, is celebrating the life of the late Gloria Sevilla, the Queen of Visayan movies,  in appreciation and gratitude for a lifetime dedicated to Filipino cinema.
     On July 31, 2022, Cebuanos are invited to join the celebration with family and friends of the award-winning actress,  at the City Wing, Atrium SM Seaside (Cebu City), from 1 pm to 7 pm, to honor the legacy she left in the industry she loved the most. Celebrities and surprise guests  are expected to attend.
     As part of the program,  there will be a screening of the movie “Palad Ta Ang Nagbuot,” directed by her son Dandin Ranillo in 2013, plus the the presentation of the municipal,  city and provincial resolutions honoring the works of the great actress.
    Sevilla did two Visayan Films  – “Badlis Sa Kinabuhi” (1969), and “Gimingaw Ako” (1973) – where she won best actress awards in both films from FAMAS (Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Science).  In 2019, she was given a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Gawad Urian Awards. At the age of 90, she died peacefully in Oakland,  California.
