Hannah Mari Castillo: Teen Model Struts Her Way to the ASEAN Fashion Runway

“My ultimate goal is to have a career that has something to do with tourism. Maybe that’s the main reason why I plan to become a flight attendant after college, I want to travel the world learn more cultures, and meet more people globally. My life as a fashion model is not forever, but I can use this to gain more confidence and learn to be more flexible in dealing with different kinds of people when I visit different countries.”

A few days ago, Teen Model Awardee Hannah Mari Castillo wrapped up her recent stint during the Manila International Fashion Week held at Whitespace Makati. Just a couple of weeks ago, she finished her first ASEAN fashion leg at the Bangkok Kids International Fashion Week held at CDC Crystal Design Center in Bangkok, Thailand. And next week, she will be flying to Indonesia for the Pistang Pilipino, Fashion Forte.

At 16, Hannah is fully enjoying her teenage life. A Grade 10 student at O.B. Montessori Fairview, she enjoys the full support of her parents (daddy Pol and mommy Jocelyn), the owner of Caspar Steel Roofing Inc. As the only child, she believes she’s grounded, although she stresses that when it comes to fashion, she’s particular with her choices. But as a responsible daughter, she supports her family’s Caspar Care Foundation, through the charity projects of the Rotary Club, where her dad was a former president. And currently, her mom is the club president.

Although she’s still embracing the comforts of being a newbie runway model, Hannah has set her goals of exploring the possibility of gracing the international scene, like Europe and New York. “It has always been my dream to walk on a prestigious international stage and be given the chance to wear different creations from known designers. Every aspiring model is always looking forward to bringing every designer’s creative vision to life,” she said.

“As a young model, the best thing I’ve learned in my journey is that every time I meet a new designer, I always adjust and adapt to his or her creation,” she shared. “I just listen to their instructions, like how a perfect execution is made and how you must perform on the runway. I’m aware that they know what is best for me as an aspiring model.”

With her daily academic schedule, Hannah is managing her time effectively between the demands of school requirements, rehearsals, and training. She maintains well-organized time management and a disciplined work habit. She attends classes diligently and submits her assignments and projects punctually. Although she admits that she’s just a regular student, she’s able to balance her studies and her budding modeling stints. In addition to that, her parents always remind her of the value of education.

Since she got interested in modeling, Hannah admits that she’s a big fan of fashion luminary Heart Evangelista. She claims she follows all of her idol’s social media accounts and always presses the “heart” icon on all her posts.

“I really admire her a lot,” Hannah stressed. “The way she carries herself, from her clothes, to her make-up, and even her facial expressions when she’s in front of the camera. She’s very good and effective as a fashion influencer. But with her enthusiasm, hard work, and boundless determination with her newfound interest, she can easily carve her name in the glitz and glamour of the fashion world.
