Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) COMMENCES INVESTMENT MISSION TO SOUTH-EAST ASIA

The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), has commenced an investment mission to South-East Asia, aimed at showcasing the country’s vast business potential, and pursuing opportunities for bilateral trade and investments.

The mission will involve a high-level delegation from Ghana, with Hon. Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ghana, at the helm, accompanied by H.E. Florence Buerki Akonor, Ghana’s High Commissioner to Malaysia, and Yofi Grant, the CEO of the GIPC, along with various government and private sector stakeholders. This delegation will make a well-planned visit to the Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia, spanning a three-week period.

The investment mission will focus on four strategic sectors: Agriculture and Agribusiness, manufacturing, infrastructure development, and services. During that time, the Ghanaian delegation will meet and network with government officials, policymakers, captains of industries, and potential investors in these countries. This will afford them the opportunity to pitch bankable projects to potentially yield partnerships and investments.

Key activities will include bilateral meetings and talks to establish partnerships in key sectors and economic areas. Additionally, there will be planned visits to industrial sites to assess potential investment opportunities. These on-site visits serve the dual purpose of providing a deeper understanding of the local business environment and pinpointing areas ripe for collaboration and expansion.

According to GIPC CEO Yofi Grant, the mission is a significant step in connecting Ghana with Asia. He emphasized that “the mission will facilitate the multi-sectoral development of key industries in both regions, stimulate economic growth, and promote bilateral trade and investment. This collaborative effort will create opportunities for knowledge exchange and cooperation, leading to mutual benefits for South-East Asia and Africa”.

The mission will start with Philippines, running from October 1st to October 6th, 2023, followed by Indonesia, scheduled for October 7th to October 12th, 2023. The mission will conclude in Malaysia, spanning from October 14th to October 20th, 2023.
