“I think this song is very current and it’s a bop!” – Garth Garcia, Singer/Recording Artist
Fil-American “Prince of Pop”and The Outstanding Filipinos in America (TOFA) awardee Garth Garciawill release his carrier single “Always in My Head,” from his upcoming extended play (EP) album. It’s a song they worked on some three months ago with German composer Stephen Baulig and producer B Martin.
In singing the said single, Garcia considers it a new genre to explore and admits that he always enjoyed performing it lately. That’s the main reason why contrary to the mellow and a piece of somber-sounding music he is known for, he decided to choose the song to be his carrier single.
Apart from “Always in My Head,” Garcia shares a possible lineup of songs to be part of his EP. “We are still finalizing it, but we have the most amazing songwriters that include “American Idol alumnus Francisco Martin who wrote “Lifelines,” while Rasec Ortega did” Kiss Me Goodnight.” “Won’t You Let Me G” is by a Hollywood songwriter (whose works include Carly Rae Jepsen songs).”
“Always in My Head”is now out and the music video is directed by Randal and Malou Kamradtand will be released any time this week.
At this point in his career in the US, apart from running his own events and record label business, he wants to focus more on building artists (especially Fil-Americans) by helping them reach and navigate their goals. Like any of them, it is also his life-long dream to break into the mainstream music industry someday.
What is admirable about Garcia is that he also gives back to his community. Come October 27at the Zipper Hall in Los Angeles, he will be receiving The Outstanding Filipino Award for the Volunteer Service.
“This will be my second time accepting TOFA. It is one of the most prestigious award-giving bodies in the US for Fil-Americans. I’m grateful they appreciate the hard work we do for the community,” he says.
He didn’t only try to break into the music scene in the US but also found time to hone his acting skills. He has an upcoming Hollywood film, “No Room for Love.” “We are currently filming the sequel for the film, too, and it will focus more on my character as Matt. When it wraps up–it will be my third film in Hollywood,” he shares. His first was in 2022, a thriller film “Culture Shock,” but still unreleased.
As someone who sings, performs onstage, and acts, Garcia also dreams of making it into Broadway. He started to try his feet by becoming an investor in a production. Garcia is also thrilled to perform for his kababayans as a guest performer in Piolo Pascual’s “The Ultimate Heartthrob” show in Alaska and in Ohio.
