Chinese Artist, Qymira, Sings “Maraming Salamat”

Qymira inspired by Chimera, the multi-headed legendary beast in ancient Greece, Qymira is a multi-faceted first of her kind 3D character where fantasy meets reality through multimedia spanning the globe.

Born in Hong Kong and raised in San Francisco, British educated Qymira studied ballet from 2 years old and piano, violin and singing at the age of 3. Her passion for orchestral music began when she became the first violinist in the UK national string academy while still in her teens.

In her final year of an economics BSc degree at the University of Bristol in the UK, her music recording career started. Qymira began penning and developing her own music in both classical and popular spheres, and released her debut pop single, “satisfied”, remixed by EEDB (Eagle E Doc B), which blasted to the no. 1 slot in the UK music week breakers chart. National UK tours where Qymira performed in front of tens of thousands followed across the UK. Her next UK tour and single, “Boom Bang Bang”, were featuring on TV in the UK and across Europe.

Next, Qymira conducted members of the Hong Kong philharmonic orchestra, Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra and Manila Philharmonic Orchestra for live recordings of er orchestral scores for a series of symphonic stage shows and films. Her original works are being performed by symphony and philharmonic orchestras from all around the world.

Last autumn, Qymira’s single, “give it to me” featuring Filipino singer, Kris Lawrence, and Brazilian rapper, Duendy Primeiro, charted at no. 5 on the U.K dance chart. This sparked off an exciting collaboration with Doc B and artists in Brazil, with all 3 singles released on radio, “Perdão” and “Sun & Sea” both feat. Duendy Primeiro, and “Vem Comigo” feat. Kaos, all reaching no. 1 on the radio chart in Bahia. Qymira also performed at the world-renowned Salvador carnival earlier this year with famed Brazilian artist, Edu Casanova.

Now, Qymira is launching her first single in the Philippines, entitled “maraming salamat”. With the support of renowned songwriter/producer, Vehnee Saturno, she is dedicating it to all children in need from her works with the One GAIA Foundation which she founded 3 years ago, aiming to bring children together as one people through music, dance, arts and sports. One GAIA empowers children in need by giving them a source of focus and a sense of purpose, offering them a platform to explore and express their innate talents with top professionals in related fields.

The first country that one GAIA worked with was the Philippines. Qymira visited the Aetas community of Bataan at Christmas 2019. Throughout the covid pandemic, one GAIA supported children in need by donating tablets for remote learning. One GAIA rebuilt various schools that were ravaged by typhoon Odette and offered school supplies to students for their return to school. Qymira has also been working with everlasting hope, a Centre for children with cancer based in Cebu. She holds monthly online sessions in arts and music. A typical session would see her reading stories to the children, singing songs, and letting the children draw whilst she plays piano live. The children most often end up dancing to her music.

Qymira also hosted feeding program and dancing initiative with the homeless children in Binondo, worked with the PWD community in Mindanao, and schools across Bohol and Isabela, continually championing children in need across the globe by offering them opportunities to express their innate talents so that they can shine as one people under the mentorship of seasoned professionals. E.G. One GAIA singing souls contest for young singing talents including the provinces is currently on season 2. And the dancing hopes contest for dancing talents nationwide will also be open for auditions later this year.

One GAIA is currently launching 10 initiatives across music, arts and sports in the Philippines, Hong Kong, Jamaica, Brazil, followed shortly by India and Africa.
