Body Rock Asia, now on its 3rd year, is set to gather Asian nations once again through the universal language of Dance.
Body Rock, often hailed as the “Superbowl of the Dance Community,” is an annual international dance event held in San Diego, California, with the mission of uniting dancers globally, providing a platform for emerging choreographers, catering to diverse audiences, and setting the standard for dance competitions. Body Rock Asia serves as the exclusive Asian qualifier, where winners automatically qualify for the USA finals, representing Asia on an international stage.
Scheduled to take place on February 17, 2024, 6pm at the prestigious Theatre at Solaire in Parañaque, Philippines, Body Rock Asia is an event that fosters cultural exchange, celebrates diversity, and elevates the art form to new heights while showcasing the incredible talent from across the Asian continent.
After an intense selection process, only 35 elite teams have emerged from a pool of 140 video entries and submissions across Asia. Representing a diverse array of countries including Singapore (D’Kingsman and East Squad), South Korea (Come Here), Malaysia (KinAte), Japan (Out Cloud), Russia (Art of Motion, FOT Family and K.A.C.H.E.L.I.), Taiwan (Team_BASline) and the Philippines (A.Swagg, Ardens, Artist Connection Exude Dancers, Attraction Crew, Briø, Chikletz Family, Company Of Ateneo Dancers, IOX Entertainment, Lazarus, NDDU Generals, Obsequious, OG’z, Out*Call, Oxycrew, Ruthless Comrades, SB 3rd Gen, SLCK, Street Crew 04, Stump, The A-Next , The Addlib, The Lifestyle, League Of Aces, Highpower, RTPACT, and Street Attraction).
To ensure the highest standards of judging, Body Rock Asia has assembled a panel of esteemed judges with impeccable credentials, including Adam Alonzo of the Philippines, Ako Honda of Japan, Gurgen Manukian of Russia, Kyung 2K of Singapore, and Faris of Malaysia. Adding to the excitement are special guest performances by some of the Philippines’ most prestigious dance crews, including TPM, Upeepz, Ateam, and also Tokyo Kidz from Japan.
But it’s not just about the performances; Happening a day after the event is the Body Rock Community Workshop, offering a unique opportunity for dancers to engage in dance classes led by the esteemed judges. This workshop will take place from 10am until 5pm and is open not only to competitors but to all dancers in the area, providing a platform for learning, growth, and collaboration within the dance community.
